The grand opening ceremony of the second phase of the Zhejiang Special Economic Zone in Cambodia was held on January 15th. Leaders from the CDC, Ministry of Labor, Customs and other departments of the Kingdom of Cambodia attended to congratulate. The opening ceremony was presided over by Pan Yougen, the general manager of the special zone. The grand opening of the eastern section of the second phase of the Zhejiang Special Economic Zone in Cambodia marks a new stage of development for the zone as a model, and opens up a magnificent new chapter of economic takeoff. The Zhejiang Special Economic Zone in Cambodia, invested and developed by Carson Group, covers a total area of 1221 hectares and is currently the largest economic zone in Cambodia. The first phase of the special zone was approved by former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in July 2018. In November 2018, 34 domestic manufacturing factories were introduced, and all products were exported to countries and regions such as the United States, Europe, Japan, and South Korea. The total import and export trade volume reached over 600 million US dollars, bringing more than 10000 local jobs. On November 7, 2023, His Excellency Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet visited the Special Administrative Region, visited 15000 employees, delivered a policy speech, and met with Chinese entrepreneurs in the region, bringing great encouragement to the region. The second phase of the special zone has a planned area of 1041 hectares and will officially start construction in August 2023. The special zone has a superior geographical location and efficient and convenient transportation. The original terrain of the special zone belongs to the hilly area, with high terrain and large undulations. The national power grid that supplies power to the capital passes through the special zone from above. Based on the characteristics of this terrain, the special zone is planned into four major zones: East Zone, North Zone, West Zone, and Nanhu Town, achieving five improvements in environment, volume, planning, functionality, and supporting facilities. After completion, it is expected that more than 300 enterprises will settle in, driving more than 80000 local employment opportunities, and committed to creating a model of characteristic industrial town integrating production, life, and ecology. With the grand opening of Phase II East Zone, Zhejiang Special Economic Zone will undoubtedly leave a significant mark in Cambodia's economic development history and become an important force in promoting Cambodia's economic takeoff.

From its launch in August 2023 to the opening of the eastern district today, in just 16 months, the second phase of the special zone has completed land signing, project planning and design, park road construction, rental and sale of first and second batches of standard factory buildings, construction of rainwater, sewage, water supply pipelines and other projects. At the same time, it has also built supporting projects such as a large reservoir with a storage capacity of 10 million cubic meters, a water plant with a capacity of 30000 cubic meters per day, a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 15000 cubic meters per day, a lakeside hotel with a building area of 5500 square meters, a Carson compound covering an area of 12000 square meters, a skills training school and a labor service center.
